They chose the very versatile double plug design to fill the duties of the XM fifty foot fleet. Being the standard 50' boxcar for Santa Fe in the sixties and seventies. Between Fe 33 and 42 classes 2050 cars were manufactured up to 1969. The main feature the Fe 34 class carried was Lading Band Anchors and a mix of wooden and Nailable Steel
