It was made circa 1900 and comes in its original wooden case with its original tripod stand. The level still works fine and preserves all its original component parts and pieces, including the delicate and fragile glass capsules with the bubbles. In very good original untouched condition. I absolutely love this. I have it under my office chair in my home office and it is so luxurious to feel this under my feet while I'm working. It came shrinkwrapped and took a day or two to fluff back out and lose the creases. It looks great now. I didn't notice any odor when I opened it. Shipping was fast and it was very well packaged. I was very pleased with it. I would definitely buy again.
